Position Summary

The Branch Group is looking for an experienced Senior Network Administrator with expertise in Cisco / Meraki based hardware and services (wired and wireless) as well as Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Server, and VMWare Virtualization technologies.


The primary role of the Senior Network Administrator is to establish and configure networks for organization-wide use.  This includes managing the configuration and setup of wide area networks (WANs), local area networks (LANs), remote project networks, VPN’s, SD-WAN, VOIP and ISP integrations for an enterprise level multi-site environment.


The Senior Network Administrator will also establish and configure Microsoft Active Directory environments, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Servers, and VMWare Virtualization.


This role will maintain reliable network and system performance through use of infrastructure monitoring tools, error logs and user-reported network issues. In addition, this person will monitor and analyze the network and systems to ensure that the systems meet expectations for speed, security, reliability, and redundancy.   


This person will work closely with the Director of IT Infrastructure and Director of Enterprise Data and Systems to ensure all systems under their direction are serving the enterprise needs.


  • Design and implement reliable WAN base networks between all corporate offices and remote jobsites.
  • Design and implement reliable LAN networks at all locations.
  • Administration, configuration management and change control of network infrastructure including routers, switches, wi-fi, firewalls, Packet Shapers, and IDS/IPS.  The primary network infrastructure is based on Cisco and Meraki technologies.
  • Manage patches and upgrades for all networks and systems.
  • Design and Implement network security measures to mitigate cyber-security risks.
  • Create and maintain documentation on networking infrastructure, systems, and processes.
  • Administration and configuration of network infrastructure monitoring and notification software.  This includes monitoring all network devices, servers, critical services, and virtualization environments.
  • Conduct regular network performance tests.

Duties/Responsibilities Cont.

  • Work with technicians and administrators to conduct routine system audits and make recommendations to improve security, reliability, and speed.  This may include making key hardware decisions, such as replacing or upgrading servers or shifting databases to new software.
  • Ensure that data remains intact, secure, and accessible in case of system crashes by coordinating and conducting regular data backups.
  • Support and resolve escalated network support issues from helpdesk.


  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco IOS, Meraki MX devices, and TCP/IP
  • Advanced knowledge of the OSI Model and protocols at each layer
  • Expertise with SD-WAN, L3 routing, site-to-site VPN and client VPN topology
  • Expertise with VOIP technology
  • Expertise with Microsoft Active Directory including DNS, DHCP and other MS technologies
  • Experience with VMWare vSphere, vMotion, VM HA, and associated technology
  • Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds or similar tools
  • Familiarity with teleconferencing technologies (WebEx, MS Teams)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • Professional IT Certifications, such as: Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNP, Cisco CCIE, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft MCP, MCSA, MCSE or other
  • VMWare experience and ability to maintain clusters and hosts
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting

This position will consist of travel to visit remote offices and jobsites.  A good driving record is required.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Typical office days and hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, however this position will require after hours work for scheduled upgrades, scheduled maintenance, and emergency work.
