SERVICE TECH II
Position Summary
Hopkins | Lacy, the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, (MEP) Division of Branch, is searching for a dynamic Service Technician. The Service Technician II will inspect, test and perform preventative maintenance and most repairs on mechanical systems including air cooled chillers, boilers, and all other HVAC equipment types. They will work under minimal direction. The Service Technician must be able to execute personal judgement in analyzing a situation and select appropriate course of action/determine when assistance is required.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Inspect and diagnose mechanical air conditioning systems using a variety of tools and instruments.
- Perform specified preventative maintenance including belt-adjustments, oiling, greasing and cleaning of equipment, filter replacement, etc.
- Perform prescribed non-destructive tests; collect and deliver samples for analysis.
- Perform basic repairs of mechanical equipment.
- Communicate with customer on the work performed and present condition of mechanical equipment.
- Respond to identified customer needs.
- Inspect, diagnose and repair of most types of HVAC equipment.
- Inspect and diagnose electrical equipment which uses less than 460 volts.
- Install copper and FR polyethylene tubing.

Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of most HVAC systems, ability to analyze and execute needed repairs, excellent organizational skills and performance of timely and accurate paperwork as assigned.
- Must act as a mentor for HVAC Service Technician I ‘s.
- Associate Degree in Air Conditioning or equivalent in experience.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Technician I or four years as technician in HVAC service field.
- Completion of company required education.
- Working knowledge of personal computers.
- Journeyman Mechanic card and CFC Certification.
- Valid Driver’s License

The employee will also need to be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, feel, talk, and hear.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position which typically requires 40 hours per week.
