CONTROL TECH I
Position Summary
Hopkins | Lacy, the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, (MEP) Division of Branch, is searching for a Control Technician. The Control Technician will perform plans layout, installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment. The Control Technician plans new or modified installation to minimize waste of material, provide access for future maintenance and avoid unsightly, hazardous or unreliable wiring consistent with specifications, local and national electrical codes. They will also be responsible for developing a positive interface with the customer to ensure confidence and satisfaction with the installation.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment
- Follow diagrams or blueprints ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring.
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit using various tools
- Pulls wiring through conduit assisted by helper.
- Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads using knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps
- Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment
- Tests circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components
- Observes functioning of installed equipment of system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement

Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalency
- Reasoning skills
- Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form
- High School level mathematics and language skills
- Valid Driver’s License
- Able to plan and organize work and to work independently at a job site location

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. They will need to stand (approximately 70%), walk (approximately 20%), and sit (approximately 10%). The employee will also need to be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, feel, talk, and hear. The employee will need to be able to carry up to 75lbs, lift up to 100lbs, and move up to 200lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, midrange vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position which typically requires 40 hours per week.
