VP OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The Vice President (VP) of Information Technology is responsible for shaping and executing the company’s enterprise-wide technology strategy. This role ensures that IT capabilities align with business objectives, drive operational efficiency, and enable growth across all areas of the organization.

As a key member of the leadership team, the VP of IT brings both a strategic vision and hands-on expertise—leveraging technology to improve business models, streamline processes, and support the company mission. The role partners with executives, department leaders, and cross-functional teams to launch programs, implement new systems, and integrate vendor solutions. This leader will regularly present updates to the Executive Team and Board of Directors, serving as the voice of technology in company strategy.

The VP of IT will set the technological direction for the enterprise, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable systems that empower decision-making and support sustainable growth. This position will also oversee the protection of company, employee, and customer data while maintaining compliance and security standards.

This role can be based out of one of the following regional offices: Roanoke, VA ; Richmond, VA ; Chesapeake, VA ; or Raliegh, NC

Essential Functions

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for IT in alignment with business objectives.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to executives, ensuring technology investments deliver measurable business value.
    • Drive digital enablement, process automation, and scalability to support company growth.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Oversee IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, data analytics, applications, and security.
    • Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and programs.
    • Manage the IT budget and ensure cost-effective delivery of service.
    • Provide regular updates to the Executive Team on progress, risks, and opportunities.
  • Team & Culture
    • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing IT organization with a strong sense of urgency and customer orientation.
    • Recruit and retain top talent; provide coaching and leadership development.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability.
  • Technology & Innovation
    • Lead the deployment of company-wide technology standards.
    • Evaluate, select, and implement hardware, software, and services to meet evolving business needs.
    • Provide data visibility and tools to enable better decision-making across functions.
    • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and guide innovation efforts.
  • Security & Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, security standards, and company policies.
    • Oversee disaster recovery planning and system backups.
    • Safeguard company and customer data against cyber threats.
    • Direct vendor and third-party IT contracts to ensure service quality and cost efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Progressive leadership experience in IT management, with expertise across applications (ERP), data, infrastructure, operations, and security.
  • Proven ability to design and execute IT strategies that drive tangible business value.
  • Strong background in scaling organizations through process, platforms, talent, and vendor management.
  • Experience in the construction industry (or a similar field) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated hands-on leadership style with a track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into actionable IT plans.
  • Exceptional project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.

 

Travel 
Travel is as required to and from job site locations and business office. 

 

Work Environment 
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers/scanners.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 
This is a full-time which will typically involve 40 hours per week.
