
Legal Intern
Position Summary:
Branch is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Intern/Summer Associate to support our Legal Department. The ideal candidate with assist with a variety of tasks related to construction contracts, EEOC Matters, compliance, risk management, and dispute resolution. We are looking for students with integrity because it’s not just about the work we do, but how we do it.
Responsibilities:

Contract Review and Drafting: Assist in reviewing, drafting, and revising contracts related to construction projects, including vendor agreements, subcontractor agreements, and client contracts.

Legal Research: Conduct legal research on construction-related laws, regulations, and case law to support ongoing projects and disputes.

Risk Management: Help identify potential legal risks in construction projects and assist in drafting legal opinions to mitigate these risks.

Compliance: Assist in ensuring the company complies with all relevant federal, state, and local construction laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.

Dispute Resolution: Support the legal team in managing claims, disputes, and litigation matters related to construction projects.

Document Management: Organize and maintain legal documents, contracts, and correspondence related to ongoing projects and legal matters.

Employment Law: Advise and assist Human Resources Department with compliance, investigation and training requirements regarding employment issues.

Other Duties as Assigned: Provide general administrative support to the legal department, including preparing reports, attending meetings, and assisting with day-to-day operations.
Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a Juris Doctor (JD) program at an accredited law school.

Strong interest in all aspects of construction law, real estate law, and/or corporate law.

Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.

Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis, etc.) is preferred.

Excellent communication, both written and verbal.

Travel is required. A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is mandatory.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment as well as the job site. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will also work on the construction job site. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. At the job site, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

Branch is searching for an Intern to join our Summer Internship program. We are searching for rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who are pursuing degrees in Building Construction, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management and/or a related degree. Our program is designed to provide a structured and supportive learning environment whereby the Intern will develop impactful skills and attributes necessary for a successful career in the construction industry. We are looking for students with integrity because it’s not just about the work we do, but how we do it.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Our interns will be tasked with actual responsibilities of the Preconstruction, Project Management and/or Field Supervision team but with the training, support and mentoring necessary to cultivate their constructive development.
- Interact with subcontractors, vendors and owners.
- Participate in cost planning and scheduling, materials procurement, cost control, and quality management
- During the final stages of the program, the intern will prepare a presentation outlining their experience at Branch.
- Follow safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action steps.
