
SERVICE DESK TECHNICIAN (Temporary)
Position Summary
Branch is looking for a temporary tech-savvy Service Desk Technician to assist with providing technical support services to the internal staff of a large construction firm in Virginia and North Carolina! This is a temporary role, estimatied to last 3 months with the potential for extentsion. This role will be providing technical support to internal employees primarily supporting the project the company's Windows 10 to 11 Upgrade. This role will work in-person in our HQ office in Roanoke, Virginia and will involve overnight travel to offices in Virginia and North Carolina.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform in-place upgrades and fresh installations of Windows 11 on company desktops and laptops.
- Prepare and configure hardware, ensuring data backup and system integrity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve upgrade-related issues, including application compatibility and driver updates.
- Provide on-site technical support at various plant locations within a 250-mile radius of Roanoke, VA.
- Document upgrade steps, issues, and resolutions for internal tracking.
- Collaborate with the IT team to meet project deadlines and minimize disruption to operations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of hands-on IT support or desktop administration experience, including Windows operating system deployments and upgrades.
- Strong understanding of Windows 10/11, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Familiarity with imaging tools, patch management, and endpoint security best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to company sites as required (all travel expenses will be covered).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional IT Certifications, such as: Microsoft MCP, MCSA, or MCSE, Cisco CCNA
- BA or BS in Computer Science or related education
- Experience with Apple Mac Desktop OS

This role will initally work at the HQ office, then may be asked to travel 50% - 70% of the time to assist with upgrades at other sites. This will require overnight travel.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Typical office days and hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.
