PROPOSAL MANAGER

Position Summary

Branch Group seeks a highly skilled, detail-oriented Proposal Manager. The Proposal Manager will collaborate with and coordinate the execution of various project pursuits across all of Branch’s business units. They will develop all materials associated with Statement of Qualification (SOQ) packages, technical proposals, and interview presentations. As a protector of the Branch brand, the proposal professional will verify that all collateral is aligned with company-wide branding and templates.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Director of Proposal Management.
  • Participate in Go/No-Go and capture strategies, drive compliance with the delegation of authority guidelines, capture planning and positioning activities, and provide leadership and direction.
  • Lead the creation of one or more large, complex, multidisciplinary pursuits from capture through to interview.
  • Develop and implement the Proposal Work Plan for pursuits, including:
    • Coordinating and creating the compliance matrix that assigns tasks to support the proposal team for technical proposal documentation and development.
    • Developing and managing the proposal schedule within pursuit and submittal deadlines.
  • Facilitate meaningful proposal kickoff meetings that set clear expectations, outline a plan for content development, and define clear roles for everyone involved in the proposal process.
  • Lead and contribute to the writing of proposal content.
  • Assemble proposal documents in various software formats to ensure that a client’s stated criterion is included before the submittal deadline.

Duties/Responsibilities Cont.

  • Review and edit proposal content to support one-voice methodology.
  • Develop/coordinate Color Team reviews (i.e., pink, red, and gold team reviews) and prepares the proposal team for the review and internal evaluation of the proposal. Ensures appropriate Color Team comments are incorporated into the final proposal.
  • Support and analyze debriefs and gather client feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Lead the final publishing and packaging of the proposal and deliver it to the Owner.
  • Update proposal templates and project sheets and ensure all relevant information is stored in Branch’s database and searchable for future project pursuits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • 4-6+ years of proposal/pursuit management experience in the construction or engineering industry required.
  • A self-starter and leader with the initiative, skill, and personal commitment required to concurrently manage multiple projects and details and bring tasks and projects to full completion.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills (written and oral).
  • A thorough understanding of proposal and presentation best practices and tools, including conveying messages, themes, discriminators, and responses to evaluation criteria.
  • A solid working knowledge of desktop publishing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite), graphics programs (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite), word processing programs (e.g., Microsoft Word), and presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint).
  • A working knowledge of collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, etc.
  • Strong writing, editing, and graphic design/layout skills.
  • Ability to travel for pursuit meetings and Company proposal support.
  • Knowledge of the Shipley method of proposal delivery.
  • APMP/SMPS certification is a plus (or the desire to obtain certification).
  • Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Located within Branch’s geographic area (i.e., Virginia or North Carolina).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position which will typically involve 40+ hours a week.
