Position Summary

The President of Branch Civil, Inc. is responsible for the overall strategic and financial leadership of the company. He or she will grow the company through the acquisition and delivery of safe, profitable  projects.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and monitors an overall strategic plan that supports and is in alignment with the Branch Group plan that results in long term financial profits and positive cash flow.
  • Establishes and maintains a consistent positive safety culture and recognizes the significance of leading by example.
  • Develops, implements and monitors business plans, forecasts, budgets and capital plans that support the strategic plan.
  • Accurate and timely communication with the Branch Group Corporate Executive team in accordance with the decision matrix.  
  • Manages the risks associate with operations (legal, credit, safety, etc.)
  • Acquires the machinery, equipment, and human resources necessary to successfully execute the business plan
  • Plans and implements an effective business development process consistent with overall profit and growth objectives while protecting and growing the franchise
  • Develops a clear vision of the type of work that leads to financial success
  • Develops an estimating approach that models the cost of operations and creates a feedback loop from operations
  • Participates in major bids by reviewing cost development, risk register and by setting the bid margin.

Duties/Responsibilities Cont.

  • Develops strategic alliances that provide a competitive advantage, reduce risk, increase success rate (bid & operations) on projects.
  • Develops and implements systems and strategies that enhance the company’s operational plan, contracts, budget, safety, and quality performance
  • Adjusts estimated-cost-to-complete that reflect changes in baseline deviations
  • Establish and maintain a culture of margin growth and risk reduction.
  • Accurately report projects financial performance to minimize unwanted surprises (margin erosion) and lookback losses.
  • Defines roles and responsibilities for the key jobs in the organization.
  • Identifies and develops future leaders through regular talent reviews, performance feedback, development plans and succession planning.
  • Actively participates in industry associations (ARTBA, CAGC, DBIA, VTCA, etc)
  • Works with employees to identify a career path and the skills necessary to achieve goals. Provides means for these employees to obtain necessary skills to pursue their goals.

Qualifications

  • Must have Alternative Delivery (DB, PDB, PPP) experience
  • Experience leading Self-Perform Civil work
  • Heavy highway as well as Industrial/Commercial experience
  • An understanding of, and proven success with a Design Build approach  
  • Outstanding Negotiation Skills
  • Work experience in a geographically dispersed company
  • Must conduct self in an ethical manner, accepting full responsibility for decisions, actions, and commitments he/she makes/takes
  • Wholeheartedly promotes the vision of the company and displays visionary, strategic thinking
  • Ability to build strong teams

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred or equivalent
  • Ten years of prior experience in management of construction companies in positions of increasing responsibility

Travel

Travel is frequently required to and from job site locations and office location.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, midrange vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position which typically requires 40 hours per week.
