Position Summary

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Branch Civil is searching for a dependable, conscientious <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Pipe Foreman to join our well-established, growing company.  The Foreman w<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">orks with the Superintendents and Project Managers to coordinate pipeline operations and oversee pipe crew. <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The Pipe Foreman will supervise the lay out, installation and assembly of pipe projects.  <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">As the liaison between workers and supervisors, the Pipe Foreman is the key person in charge of overseeing the completion of the project and must be able to see the “big picture” at all times.  The foreman must be aware of materials expenses, permits and other regulations, as well as employee safety.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ensures crew maintains professional relations with Owner, Engineer, and other members of the team.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Builds job by plans and specifications as directed by supervisor.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Supervises the lay out, assembly and installation of various sizes and types of utility pipe. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Prior to commencing work activities, develops and executes an effective plan in cooperation with the Superintendent for pipe installation and determines the means and methods necessary (including individual work activities) to meet project goals. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Assures the proper storage of materials and rented equipment, including regular checks of job for material and equipment inventory.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Assures the proper operation and maintenance of equipment under their control, including appropriate applications for the respective equipment.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Reviews Miss Utility policy and ensures employee compliance.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Preplans and schedules pipe installation on a daily basis as required.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Knowledgeable <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">of inspection requirements and material or equipment requirements.<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">.
Duties/Responsibilities Cont.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Recognizes and immediately reports any requests for extra work.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Prepares or<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"> assists the Superintendent in the preparation of daily reports, work unit quantity reports, equipment reports, and receipt of materials.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Assures quality control and contract compliance of pipe installation under his / her supervision.  Corrects or reports to the superintendent any suspicions of inaccurate layout.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Is in direct charge of safety and accident control for the <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">pipe installation <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">under his/her supervision.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Participates in safety meetings and the implementation of effective safety programs and communication of Miss Utility policy. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Cooperates with Corporate Safety managers to ensure OSHA compliance at jobsites.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Assists in conducting post-incident investigations.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Identifies and recommends workers for potential career growth opportunities.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Responsible for training and development of workers.
Qualifications
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Certified to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations up to 15 feet in depth, using ladders or crawling, as required.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">10 hour OSHA certification required; 30 hour certification preferred.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Working knowledge of standards, specifications, codes, regulations and laws
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Working knowledge of applicable OSHA and DOT guidelines.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">5+ years’ experience with highway/utility construction
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">3+ years’ experience as a Pipe Foreman
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must have a valid driver’s license and must meet Branch Group Fleet Policy requirements and maintain “Approved Driver” status.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Must have excellent communications skills
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ability to use good judgement with the ability to be an effective decision maker
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Has an ability to get job done with minimal supervision, on time, within budget or better.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Travel is infrequent at project site. However, employee should be willing and able to travel to project site.

Supervisory Reponsibility

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">This position will potentially supervise 5 or more employees.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires employee to frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, handle objects, reach outward, and reach above head and shoulders, climb, squat, kneel, bend, and occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, move, drag on flat ground or steep slopes up to 50 lbs. The employee may be required to enter confined spaces by climbing or crawling.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">This is a full-time position which will typically involve 50+ hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather and emergencies at the job site.
