ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

Position Summary

Branch Builds is searching for a highly skilled, team-oriented, salaried Assistant Superintendent with at least 3 years of commercial construction experience to join our well-established and growing company.  This position works closely with all member of the project team to ensure success of the project. 

Duties/Responsibilities

Our Assistant Superintendents work in partnership with the project superintendent and project manager/project engineer to deliver a quality project in a timely fashion.  As such, they will be responsible for the following

  • Directing project construction in accordance with the project documents (plans, specifications, submittals, etc.). 
  • Coordinate jobsite logistics and develop relationships with adjacent project neighbors. 
  • Direct day to day coordination of subcontractor scopes of work by participating in preparatory meetings and subcontractor meetings to ensure consistent effective communication, high quality workmanship, and completion on schedule. 
  • Mentor, train, and manage Foreman, Interns and Workers. 
  • Professionally represent Branch Builds as a daily point of contact with Owners, Design Teams, and Subcontractors to develop relationships based upon a fair, reasonable, and trustworthy approach to the project. 
  • Provide leadership and guidance to subcontractors to develop functional project teams which proactively identify and resolve challenges arising during construction. 
  • Participate in 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule development and LEAN planning processes to plan, coordinate, communicate, and manage daily work toward project completion. 
  • Maintain daily project communication and document daily work activity including managing both SWPP and LEAD requirements. 
  • Responsible for project safety, providing safety orientations/demonstrations, conducting Superintendents Safety Inspections, and leading project safety by example with a coaching approach toward ensuring worker safety with an objective of an injury free environment. 
  • Participate in punch list development and completion to ensure a high quality project. 
  • Possess a hands-on mentality when required to complete tasks.

Qualifications

  • Excellent listening and communication skills.

  • Participation and leadership in a team environment. 
  • OSHA 30 Certification. 
  • Computer and Ipad skills with Microsoft Office, Project Management Software (Procore, Prolog, etc.), Bluebeam, and scheduling software. 
  • 3-5+ years of experience as a construction assistant superintendent or project engineer.  
  • K-12/Higher Education and/or Multifamily experience is preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree a plus but is not required. 
  • Fair and reasonable proactive approach with a strong work ethic and a positive can-do attitude.

The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position which will typically involve 40+ hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather and emergencies at the job site.
